Weekly Challenge - Week 2 Completed

This weeks challenge was to take a traditional landscape on the theme of harmony, and using a shallow depth of field technique. The above video is the result.

I'm not overly happy with it, I don't think the theme of harmony is particularly well communicated, the idea was to show people in harmony with the landscape, however, I just failed I think. I went out with the intention of only taking a photograph, so I took my nex-7 instead of my Blackmagic Pocket Cinema Camera, and no support, which resulted, when I changed my mind and decided to make a video instead, in shakey handheld videos. I also didn't bring any Neutral Density filters, so it was way too bright and very limiting, especially considering I was trying to open up as wide as possible for the shallow depth of field.

On a positive note, this was the first outing of my Contax Zeiss 35-70mm, and it is beautiful - not that I can take the credit for that, and it's also the first time I included sound other than music in any of my videos - it's not exactly a highlight, but it is a step forward for me :)

So while I'm not happy with the end result, it's important to remember that this is my first video I've made in over a year, thanks to The Year of Hell™ so just picking up my camera and going out and putting together a video is a huge step for me, and I'm so happy I made it!
